Hygiene Manager (Night Shift)

Location: Liverpool, 

Salary: £40,300 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10pm - 6am

 

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced and motivated Hygiene Manager to join a busy food manufacturing site in Liverpool.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hygiene professional to take responsibility for leading the hygiene team and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, health & safety and compliance are consistently maintained across the site.

The Role

As Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for managing the hygiene team and ensuring all cleaning activities meet company, customer and food safety requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and leading the hygiene team, ensuring high standards of performance and cleanliness.
• Overseeing compliance with health & safety, quality and food safety procedures.
• Completing and maintaining COSHH assessments, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Managing the safe segregation and storage of chemicals and associated equipment.
• Managing the ordering and stock control of hygiene consumables and chemicals, including Dosatron equipment.
• Working with suppliers to obtain suitable and cost-effective equipment and consumables.
• Managing the hygiene budget and ensuring all expenditure is authorised and recorded.
• Ensuring chemical training is provided and staff development is maintained.
• Ensuring line washdowns are completed in a timely and consistent manner.
• Maintaining and monitoring deep-cleaning schedules.
• Monitoring hygiene machinery and reporting maintenance requirements to Engineering.
• Auditing hygiene standards and managing non-conformances.
• Maintaining detailed cleaning instructions and schedules in line with BRC food safety standards and customer requirements.
• Overseeing internal and customer hygiene audits and ensuring required standards are achieved.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring the site remains consistently audit ready.
• Investigating out-of-specification swab results and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
• Developing structured processes and practices to support continuous improvement.
• Liaising effectively with other departments across the site.
• Leading by example and maintaining clear and effective communication.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience managing a hygiene team, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and health & safety requirements.
• Experience with COSHH, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Knowledge of BRC standards, audits and customer requirements.
• Experience investigating non-conformances and out-of-specification swab results.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience managing chemicals, hygiene equipment and consumable stock.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• The ability to work effectively on a night shift and collaborate across departments.
